Word of mouth is one of the most powerful marketing tools and yet it is the most challenging to harness. This case is an example of a programme Scius developed and implemented specifically to harness GP word of mouth.

Objective:

To develop a communications programme that would facilitate GPs sharing their own success stories on improving the lipid management with their peers.

Challenges:

  • Work load placed on the GP presenters needed to be minimal to guarantee involvement.
  • 75 GPs need to develop 2 case studies each in an 8 week period.
  • Presentation skills of the GPs needed to be of a high standard.

Solution:

Scius developed an innovative education programme that consisted of both an active learning module and shorter  interactive workshops.

The active learning module was essentially a train the trainer programme, where GPs who were going to run the interactive workshops were educated on the latest developments in lipid management, given presentation skills training and were taken through the evening workshops they would be facilitating.

The development of two case studies per GP presenter was facilitated by Scius with the use of a case study template. Each GP presenter provided key data on their cases by completing the template and Scius took this information to bring their cases to life and integrate it within the interactive workshop.

These GP presenters then ran a series of RACGP accredited interactive workshops nationwide, educating their peers on lipid management and sharing their own successes and challenges in closing the evidence treatment gap – harnessing word of mouth.
